UNITED SUPERMARKETS TO IMPLEMENT WEB-BASED SIGN PRINTING SOLUTION
Leading regional grocer selects AccessVia Web dSignShop

SEATTLE - August 6, 2002 - AccessVia¨, the leading provider of retail sign printing and multichannel retail display solutions, today announced that United Supermarkets will deploy Web dSignShopª to deliver sign and label printing capabilities to their network of 43 stores. Web dSignShop allows retailers to print promotional signs and shelf-edge labels from a central server using a corporate intranet or the Internet.

"Ease of use, rapid deployment, and superior design control were key factors in United's decision to implement the AccessVia technology," said Scott Gilmour, Vice President & Chief Information Officer at United.

AccessVia's Web dSignShop will allow United to maintain central control of sign layouts and retail item data while giving stores the ability to print shelf-edge labels and promotional signs using the corporate intranet and existing printers. Predesigned templates and access to real-time corporate data will ensure design consistency and sign accuracy across United's retail enterprise.

Representatives for the leading regional grocer noted that Web dSignShop features a number of advantages over conventional client/server installations. "We can use our intranet and the infrastructure that we already have to make it a rapid and an easy rollout," said Shannon Cepica, of United's IS team. "There's no work at the store level in terms of installing the software, so that made the decision to deploy the technology easy."

"It's going to really cut down on the amount of time that price coordinators spend making display signs," said Trisha Hughes, Manager of Retail Information Systems at United. "And time is money in retail."

Cepica agreed that time savings and instantly available resources give United an edge over the competition. "Having the ability to print at the store level gives us the opportunity to react to the market almost immediately and create a consistent graphic identity throughout the chain," he said.

Dean A. Sleeper, AccessVia CEO, described Web dSignShop as a way for enterprises of any scale to take advantage of cutting-edge retailing technologies without the burdens of cumbersome in-store software deployments and maintenance. "It's a uniquely agile model," he said. "It gives regional retailers like United the same sophisticated capabilities as the national chains, and it provides the kind of flexibility and headroom that make future growth very manageable."

The AccessVia Print solution includes both Web dSignShop and dSIGN to provide clients with accurate and attractive signs, shelf-edge labels, fact tags, coupons, and more. Web dSignShop is designed for retailers who want to use the Internet, an intranet, or an extranet to publish signs using a Web browser without installing or maintaining in-store software. dSIGN is built for classic client/server implementations and offers advanced product data delivery and unmatched integration with legacy systems. Other solutions include AccessVia M-Commerce, AccessVia Kiosk, AccessVia E-Commerce, and AccessVia E-Mail.

AccessVia's customers also include major retailers such as Staples, Target and Walgreens and more than 30 grocery retailers such as A&P, Giant Eagle, Stop & Shop, Hannaford, Publix Super Markets, United Supermarkets, and Tesco Lotus.
