Training & Workshops

In the process of implementing state-of-the art retail merchandising systems at over 40,000 client sites, AccessVia has developed a suite of workshops through which our experts cultivate expertise among your own staff. Trainings are generally held at your location, so participants have access to your enterprise data and printed material. Our hands-on courses are designed to give your team the background, training, and practical experience to extract the highest level of performance from your automated signage solution. For optimum training experiences, our courses typically include a maximum of four participants.

AccessVia Designer Training
On-site, 3 days.
Immersion training in creating and modifying templates using AccessVia Designer. Participants are the visual merchandising, advertising and/or IT staff who will create and maintain your portfolio of publishing templates. Training includes comprehensive coverage of the authoring tool’s basic use with the intention to leave participants with a good operating knowledge of the tool so they may begin to author templates for production use. While the training will culminate with a brief session on actual template production, further designing and building some portion of the actual, functioning templates your organization uses for printing signs and labels is available using the Template Authoring Workshop.

Template Authoring Workshop
On-site, 2 days.
An AccessVia Template Developer works with your AccessVia Designer-trained visual merchandising, advertising and/or IT team to continue building the portfolio of templates your organization will use in actual production for signs, labels and other output. Prerequisites: AccessVia Designer Training (or comparable AccessVia Designer experience)

System Administration Workshop
On-site, 2 days.
Hands-on training for the installation and configuration of your AccessVia Software, Operating Systems, Databases and includes training on how to administer your new system. Participants, your network administrators and IT support personnel, should be well versed in Windows networking systems and architecture.

Application Configuration Workshop
On-site, 2 days.
Hands-on training in configuring and maintaining your Web dSignShop and/or dSIGN applications. The objective is for the members of your IT team who maintain the store menu and/or headquarters application to develop fluency with the application architecture, ini file configuration, and data and edit views, and template management. Training will be most valuable to participants with a working knowledge of database concepts. For Web menu maintenance course, students must be well versed in ASP; for VB menu maintenance, students must be well versed in VB.

Application Customization Workshop
On-site, 2 days.
Hands-on training in writing code to customize the AccessVia application to fit your organization’s requirements in the few areas that don’t map to out-of-the-box functionality. Training will be most valuable to participants with a working knowledge of database concepts and have a programming background. For Web application feature changes, students must be well versed in ASP; for VB menu application feature changes, students must be well versed in VB. This workshop may require the purchase of the AccessVia SDK.

Application Developer Workshop (SDK)
On-site, 3 days.
Workshop on the use of the AccessVia tool SDK (software developer kit) to customize AccessVia print technology with the client organization’s existing applications. Designed for developers familiar with programming technologies and language (Visual Basic, Java, C or C++), as well as database interactions (e.g., making SQL calls and ODBC connections to a database). Participants learn to write application programming interfaces to render on-screen and actual print output, to design screens using your tools of choice, and to call the AccessVia print engine technology “under the covers” to output signs, labels, banners, etc. N.B. Purchase of additional licenses for the AccessVia SDK required.

Scalability, Performance, Stress Testing Workshop
On-site, 3 days.
Highly customized workshop on testing strategies to obtain the best performance and reliability within your company’s unique hardware environment. Participants are the IT staff and database administrators at headquarters who manage your enterprise IT infrastructure. Workshop includes subjecting your hardware environment to a rigorous series of performance and stress tests: web server(s) and database server for resource usage, and web client(s) for the metrics of simultaneous browsing and sign printing usage. Participants will learn to determine the current status of your IT environment and identify the configuration enhancements to ensure performance at your goal levels of processing and production.

QA Planning Workshop
On-site, 2 days.
Following delivery and installation of AccessVia software, clients generally subject the software to an in-house QA testing process. In this workshop, an AccessVia Application Engineer teaches your QA team how to determine what to test and why, for what time period, and how to interpret optimal results.

Upgrade Planning Workshop
On-site, 2 days.
Every six to nine months, the AccessVia Research and Development team typically releases a “Customer Gold” application (and release notes) with additional functionality, bug fixes, etc. Your organization can opt to implement all upgrades or select upgrades based on your requirements for additional functionality according to the roadmap created in this workshop that trains your team on the difference between the previous and upgraded systems, the hardware implications (if any), and how to manage a seamless transition. Participants are IT staff already familiar with your current AccessVia implementation, and can include your project managers and in-house template developers. The upgrade plan’s execution may be accelerated by having the AccessVia Application Services Team on-site to perform the upgrade in collaboration with your staff with the Upgrade Execution Workshop.

Upgrade Execution Workshop
On-site, 3-4 days.
AccessVia can work with your team beyond the Upgrade Planning Workshop to execute the actual upgrade with your IT team, so that the upgraded version of AccessVia software is installed and running smoothly by the workshop’s conclusion.
