About the System Requirements

The basic system requirements in this document apply to all AccessVia Print installations.

Workstation requirements apply to all workstations that take part in an an AccessVia Print system, such as:

Store workstations that in-store employees use to interact with the system. These run a browser in an AccessVia Web dSignShop system, or AccessVia In-Store SignShop in an AccessVia dSIGN system.

The template design workstation, where new templates are created. This workstation runs AccessVia Designer.

Sign management workstations that headquarters employees use in an AccessVia dSIGN system. These workstations run AccessVia Headquarters SignShop and other behind-the-scenes components.

Server requirements apply to a variety of servers within an AccessVia Print system, such as:

Database servers that handle item, batch, sign, and user-interface data.

Web servers that host the Web dSignShop user interface.

Publishing Engine servers (also called rendering servers) that handle print jobs in a Web dSignShop system.

Staging servers that host a duplicate Web dSignShop site. Use a staging server to test templates and other system modifications before making them available for daily use across your company.

Supported Printer Drivers

The supported printer drivers are listed below. All printer drivers must be loaded on the in-store workstation for the user to print from that computer.

Downloading the AccessVia Print Control to Web dSignShop clients

Web dSignShop automatically downloads the AccessVia Print Control to a client computer the first time the Print or Preview features are used on the client. Initially, client workstations must be set to permit this download. Alternately, a system administrator tool — such as Tivoli, SMS, or even a batch file with administrator’s privileges — can be used to install the control. Once the control is installed or downloaded, it stays resident on the client computer and client permissions can be changed as needed. However, if the control version is updated on the Web dSignShop server, a new installation or download is required.

Optional Headquarters SignShop and In-Store SignShop configurations

You can run Headquarters SignShop or In-Store SignShop under Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or newer. Be sure you have the latest Microsoft service pack installed.

You can run Headquarters SignShop or In-Store SignShop with Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 or newer. Be sure to have Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3 or newer installed. (This is especially important when running under Microsoft Windows 2000)
